Have you heard of EMF or electromagnetic fields? EMFs are energy waves with frequencies below 300 hertz or cycles per second. They are invisible to the naked eye; they travel through empty space, through air and other substances. We are exposed to a virtual array of harmful EMFs known as electromagnetic pollution or radiation 24 hours a day.
Visible light, microwaves, radio waves and x rays are all examples of electromagnetic waves, but with different wavelengths. The movement of electrically charged particles creates electromagnetic waves, also known as "electromagnetic radiation" since they radiate from the electrically charged particles.
Electromagnetic pollution occurs every time electricity is generated. We are surrounded by it whether from mobile communication towers, satellite GPS systems, wireless networks (Wi-Fi, WiMAX), radar, power lines, cell tower transmitters, computer screens and hard drives, wireless internet, microwave ovens, TVs, fluorescent lights, electrical outlets, electric meters and sub-panels, dimmer switches, cell phones, cord and cordless phones, house wiring, household appliances, copying machines, and the list goes on.
Electromagnetic fields are commonly measured in units of gauss (G); a milligauss (mG) is 1000 times smaller than a gauss. For example, high voltage lines EMF levels range from 30 to 90 mG underneath the wires, based on the voltage, height, and placement of the lines. Most household appliances EMF levels range from 3 mG to 1600 mG. An intensity larger than 3 mG could be damaging. Accordingly, the safe total EMF daily exposure level should be of 1 mG.
We are electromagnetic beings. Your life's energy is your biofield, the collective energy that radiates throughout every single cell. In complex rhythms, the atoms and cells of the body alternate with each other transferring energy and information. EMF disrupts and disturbs these rhythms resulting in chaos within the system. Consequently, an increase in cellular fatigue and stress to the system result because cells have to exert more energy to deliver their electrochemical messages.
Health problems appear in the biofield before they emerge as physical symptoms. Electromagnetic pollution creates an imbalance in the body, which the body itself cannot heal. For instance, cell mutations can be a result of EMF exposure, leading to the development of cancer.
Humans are not the only ones exposed to electromagnetic pollution. Animals are also exposed to this silent and rapidly increasing killer of life force energy. Many medical experts call electromagnetic pollution the greatest health risk of the 21st century.
Some individuals are more hypersensitive to low-frequency EMFs emitted by electrical appliances, and the multiple wireless communications devices and networks, such as cell phones, WLAN, etc. Exposure to EMFs of specific frequencies and intensities has been linked to depression, memory loss, loss of energy, irritability, inability to concentrate, chronic fatigue, headaches, weakened immune system, cancer, brain tumours, Alzheimer's, autism, childhood leukemia, birth defects, accelerated aging and miscarriages.
Scientific studies show cell phones, which use the same microwave radiation as in microwave ovens but at a lower intensity, cause cancer, among other diseases, by obstructing intercellular communication.
To have an understanding of the magnitude of this issue, think about what flight attendants say before each take off: “For security reasons we ask you to keep all electronic devices turned off during take off and landing.”
As well, the use of cell phones is forbidden during the flight. Do you wonder why? There's a high risk the airplane's board instruments may be hindered by electromagnetic radiation from electronic devices. That's quite serious.
So, if electromagnetic radiation can interfere with the function of board instruments, do you think it does not interfere with the function of living systems, such as the human or animal body? Even if most people don't directly feel something when exposed to electromagnetic pollution, biological impacts are still taking place.
Although exposure to electromagnetic pollution is almost inevitable in today's society, there are steps you can take to protect yourself. Proximity and time spent near EMF sources determines how much exposure you get. To reduce your exposure, you can do the following:
Valory’s Comments: Many thanks to Marisa Herrera for contributing this great article about the negative effects EMF pollution has on our bodies and the environment in general. As I have mentioned elsewhere on this site, electromagnetic energy fields in and of themselves are not the problem.
We are surrounded by natural low levels of EMF all our lives. More important is the source of an EMF and its level of coherency that determines if it is disruptive to our own personal energy fields.
For example, all of the electrical devices in your home – lamps, television, radio, phone, microwave – emit electromagnetic vibrational frequencies. But they use AC (alternating current) electrical frequencies that are incoherent and chaotic. Their effect is to fracture the human electrical field. - Vibrational Frequency and the Subtle Energy Nature of Essential Oils
