Wellness Consciousness

Wellness is the intentional and conscious development of your whole self. It includes eight dimensions of health, such as physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual.

The mediation model shows that health consciousness significantly influences home-based exercise through health life goal and perceived behavioral control. Future studies can deepen this mediation effect and explore other mediating effects.

Spiritual Wellness

Spiritual wellness is a state of being where you feel connected to yourself, others and the world around you. It involves cultivating compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude, as well as a sense of purpose, meaning and transcendence.

It also includes practicing mindfulness, such as paying attention to your surroundings and eating mindfully. Other activities to include in your spiritual wellness routine are yoga, meditation and journaling. Journaling provides a space for self-reflection and personal insight, and can be a great tool for tracking spiritual growth.

Developing your beliefs and principles that guide you, finding harmony with humanity and nature, and having an active social life all promote spiritual wellness. Research shows that people with a strong spiritual side have better physical health and are more likely to lead happier, more fulfilling lives. This could be because their higher awareness and spiritual connection helps them deal with stress more effectively, or it may simply be because those who nurture their spiritual side tend to have healthier lifestyle habits overall.

Physical Wellness

Physical wellness involves healthy habits and choices regarding nutrition, exercise, sleep, appropriate health care, stress reduction and illness prevention. It is important to nurture this dimension of wellness as it is the foundation for thriving in other dimensions.

Physical Wellness also includes developing body awareness and personal stewardship. This is an ongoing process of learning to listen to one’s body and responding appropriately to its needs.

A recent study has found that wellness consciousness is a key predictor of home-based exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it was found that wellness consciousness influences home-based exercise via perceived behavioral control. In addition, it was found that this relationship is mediated by the setting of health life goals. The results of this study refine and deepen the related studies on this topic. It is suggested that people should pay attention to improving their health consciousness in order to promote the setting of health life goal and enhance home-based exercise during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Emotional Wellness

Emotional wellness relates to our ability to handle life’s stressors, and it affects how we interact with others. People who have poor emotional wellness may exhibit negative emotions like anger, frustration and depression. They may also experience difficulty regulating their emotions and may become easily overwhelmed. A healthy level of emotional wellness involves practicing mindfulness, gratitude and fostering positive relationships with others.

It means being able to express all of your feelings without judgment, including anger, sadness, fear, and anxiety. It also means finding ways to manage your emotions, such as practicing stress reduction techniques, expressing yourself through writing or art, and seeking professional help when needed. Having good emotional wellness can reduce the amount of cortisol in your body, which helps you cope with and recover from challenging situations. It also allows you to maintain a sense of optimism throughout life’s changes and setbacks.

Social Wellness

A healthy social life can have a significant impact on one’s overall attitude and happiness. Social wellness is about the quality of interactions, developing strong connections and feeling a sense of belonging.

Maintaining a healthy social life requires regular contact with friends and family, as well as participation in community events. This can be done by booking regular catch up dates, sending emails, texts or video calls, or joining social groups aligned with interests.

A person with high levels of social wellness shows empathy and sensitivity to the needs of others. They are willing to express their feelings and values and have a good understanding of the role they play in their relationships. They also show respect for self and are able to cope with difficulties in life without resorting to substance or process addictions. Socially well people are also more resilient in the face of adversity, and have stronger immune systems and lower blood pressures.
