Wellness consciousness is a holistic integration of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It involves a conscious decision to live a successful life. It requires making positive choices and being a responsible citizen.
This study reveals that health consciousness indirectly influences home-based exercise through health life goal and perceived behavioral control. It empowers people to take a proactive and significant role in their own lives.
Health
Health is a part of wellness consciousness, and includes physical activity, healthy eating habits and a positive mental outlook. It also involves a commitment to maintain good personal hygiene and adequate sleep.
Health conscious people prioritize sleeping well and establish a bedtime routine to signal their body that it’s time to wind down for the night. They often use meditation techniques like mindfulness and breathing exercises to help them relax.
They are aware of the effects their actions have on the environment, and they take steps to minimize environmental pollution. They also take active roles in their communities, and they try to avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits like junk food and sedentary activities.
Using a questionnaire method, this study collected 449 Chinese participants’ data through an online platform. Structural Equation Modelling revealed that health consciousness has a significant positive effect on home-based exercise, and health life goal and perceived behavioral control act as mediators to explain this relationship.
Spiritual
Spirituality is a dimension of wellness that encompasses beliefs, values, ethics and principles. It can involve religious faith, but it also includes a deeper sense of reverence and awe for the universe. It often arises out of a thirst for meaning, peace and truth that transcends religion.
When you are spiritually well, the vibrational frequencies of your life energy align with those of your higher consciousness. This sets in motion expanded alignment with your true essential nature and allows your highest potential to flourish in important life areas, such as thriving relationships, flourishing finances, flourishing businesses, and spiritually-based pursuits.
Environmental
A key aspect of environmental wellness involves maintaining a way of life that maximizes harmony with and minimizes harm to the Earth. This practice requires conservation, and it encourages eco-friendly practices like recycling, composting and energy and water conservation.
Another key aspect of environmental wellness is promoting a healthy setting that is serene, clean and secure. This includes practicing green cleaning and other sustainable strategies, procuring organic foods and using solar energy to power your home.
A study examining the influencing mechanism of health consciousness on home-based exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic found that health life goal and perceived behavioral control have a mediating effect. As a result, people who are highly health conscious are more likely to engage in home-based exercise than those who are not. This is particularly true for people with high levels of perceived behavioral control. Some cultures also incorporate forest immersion practices to help connect with the environment and bolster wellness. These include ‘ecotherapy’ in Japan and ‘grounding,’ which involves placing one’s body in direct contact with the ground to experience a magnetic connection with the planet that has surprisingly provable health benefits.
Social
Social wellness involves fostering connections and cultivating a strong support system. This includes maintaining healthy relationships with friends, family and co-workers. It also means balancing unique needs of each relationship. This is an essential part of wellness consciousness because human beings are a social species that require a sense of belonging to thrive. Loneliness has been shown to be just as harmful to our health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
During the pandemic of COVID-19, people’s awareness about health is rising rapidly. They need to learn how to translate health consciousness into home-based exercise behaviors. To this end, this study investigates the mediating effect of health life goal and perceived behavioral control between health consciousness and home-based exercise. A questionnaire survey method is used to collect data from 449 Chinese respondents on an online platform. The results show that health consciousness has a positive influence on home-based exercise. The research suggests that it is important to promote health-related behavior by promoting health life goal and perceived behavioral control.
