Wellness consciousness refers to people’s awareness of the impact of their activities on themselves and their environment. It is a vital element of physical and mental health.
This study investigates the mediating role of health life goal and perceived behavioral control in the relationship between wellness consciousness and home-based exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results indicate that health consciousness has a positive effect on home-based exercise through the mediation of health life goal and perceived behavioral control.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness involves intentionally focusing on the present moment and accepting your thoughts, feelings, and sensations. It’s a key component of meditation but can also be done during everyday activities, like walking or eating. It’s been shown to improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, and lower blood pressure.
Practicing mindfulness can help you notice when you’re hungry or full, so you can make healthier choices. It can even help you manage cravings and emotional eating.
Studies show that mindfulness improves self-esteem, empathy, and vitality. It can also lead to more healthy habits, such as regularly eating a balanced diet and exercising daily. However, mindfulness can be difficult for people who have experienced trauma, so it’s important to practice with a trained mental health professional. A trauma-informed therapist can help you navigate your experiences and develop strategies for managing distressing emotions. Mindfulness may also help you feel more connected to your community and increase your sense of belonging.
Spirituality
Spirituality is an expansive process of finding meaning and purpose in life through deeply held values and beliefs. It can include engaging in religious practice, but it also can be found in activities that may not be associated with religion, such as yoga or meditation.
Creative Expression
Artistic activities such as painting and music offer a means for emotional release, self-discovery, and affirming one’s personal identity. These activities can lead to a meditative state similar to that experienced during mindfulness, which can further enhance the connection between wellness consciousness and spirituality.
Reading and learning are significant elements of spiritual wellness, allowing the mind to be opened to new ideas and perspectives through thought-provoking texts and materials. Whether through religious, philosophical, or personal growth books, broadening one’s perspective can foster greater empathy and understanding, both essential to spiritual wellness. Keeping a journal to track progress on the spiritual journey is another way to cultivate a sense of awareness and spiritual well-being.
Nutrition
Conscious nourishment is a lifestyle approach to healthy eating that embraces your mind-body connection. Instead of a diet that is restrictive and often leads to failure, conscious nourishment focuses on sustainable, balanced choices. It includes maintaining adequate hydration, engaging in regular physical activity, and getting sufficient sleep. These habits complement your nourishing journey, creating a harmonious synergy that promotes overall well-being.
The results indicate that diet-related health consciousness, food disgust sensitivity, and nutrition knowledge predict perceived risks of PBMA. These constructs are related to risk perception, which influences attitudes and benefit perception. Moreover, the results reveal that the Big Five personality traits influence perceived risks in a similar way.
These findings add to previous literature on the effects of diet-related health consciousness and nutrition knowledge on the consumption of PBMA. Future research is needed to further explore the role of these constructs in the context of product characteristics and environmental sustainability. In particular, it is important to identify whether consumers’ perceptions of PBMA are influenced by their awareness of its ingredients and governmental regulations.
