Wellness Consciousness

A character’s wellness consciousness is the level of commitment they have to healthy habits and behaviors. This includes eating well, getting enough sleep and exercise, and avoiding stress.

This study uses structural equation modeling to test the direct and indirect effects of health consciousness, health life goals, and perceived behavioral control on home-based exercise.

Physical

While most people think of wellness in terms of physical health, it actually involves a holistic integration of the mind, body and spirit. It encompasses a wide range of activities, from healthy eating and exercise to coping with emotional problems and fostering spiritual well-being. It also includes a positive outlook on life and promotes societal features such as greater academic achievement by children and a strong family structure.

Physical wellness includes a balanced diet, regular physical activity and adequate sleep to maintain optimum functioning and reduce the risk of disease. It also involves avoiding unhealthy behaviours like misusing alcohol and tobacco. People who have a high level of physical wellness are generally energetic and can complete daily tasks without feeling tired. They have enough cardiorespiratory endurance to engage in sports and other recreational activities.

This study reveals that health consciousness has a positive effect on home-based exercise, and this impact is mediated by the formation of healthy lifestyle goals and perceived behavioral control. It suggests that it is essential to translate health consciousness into home-based exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mental

Achieving mental wellness is an ongoing journey, and it requires nurturing your mind and emotions. It includes practices like mindfulness, meditation and journaling to manage stress. It also includes stimulating your brain with activities like reading and puzzles.

Mental wellness also includes finding meaning in life and developing emotional resilience. This aspect of wellness can be influenced by your spiritual beliefs, relationships and community.

The underlying principle of the wellness model is that all dimensions are important to achieving overall health. However, you may focus more on one dimension than another. For example, you may find that exercise and diet are more important to your physical health, while spirituality or emotional wellbeing are more important to your mental well-being.

Spiritual

Spiritual wellness involves developing a set of beliefs, morals and values that provide meaning in life and a connection to something bigger than yourself. It includes practicing gratitude, cultivating compassion and expressing empathy. It also encompasses activities like yoga, prayer, meditation and attending religious services.

The majority of your thoughts, feelings and emotions reside in your subconscious. To achieve wellness, you must focus on raising your level of consciousness through conscious mindfulness and positive energy thought. The opposite is spiritual unwellness, which stems from the negative inner dialogue of your carnal mind and seeds a downward spiral into lower-consciousness thinking.

Activities that nurture spiritual well-being include tracking your insights through journaling, writing free-flow thoughts and exploring your emotions and aspirations through the practice of yoga. Nature bathing – taking time to walk in a park, beach or forest – is another spiritually healing activity that helps you deepen your relationship with nature and yourself. You can even find peace by watching the sunset or sunrise – both are great ways to calm your mind, body and soul.

Social

Social wellness is a dimension of well-being that focuses on building and nurturing relationships. This includes developing empathy and active listening skills, as well as learning to support others.

Loneliness and social isolation are detrimental to health, as research shows that people with strong social connections live longer and have stronger immune systems (Mayo Clinic, 2021). This is why the wellness movement is centered on creating and sustaining healthy friendships.

As COVID-19 restrictions are easing, many people are reverting to a more normal life, including socializing with friends again. This type of group interaction helps improve mental outlook and boosts self-esteem. It also increases dopamine, the neurotransmitter that elicits feelings of happiness.
