Wellness Consciousness

Wellness consciousness refers to an individual’s awareness of their physical and mental health. This awareness allows them to make healthier choices and adopt healthy habits.

This study has confirmed that health consciousness can affect home-based exercise via perceived behavioral control. Furthermore, it has found that people with high health consciousness are more likely to set health life goal and improve their perception of behavioral control.

Physical

Physical wellness promotes the balance of nutrition, physical activity and mental health to keep your body in top condition. It includes things like staying hydrated, eating foods that support your energy levels and practicing safer sex.

Wellness is often defined as the ability to pursue the best possible life that your potentials, circumstances and fate will allow. Achieving wellness is a journey that encompasses all dimensions of health, and the more you become conscious of these dimensions, the better you can improve them. Raising your awareness is similar to getting a RAM upgrade for your brain. It allows you to take in more information and solve complex problems faster.

Emotional

When a person feels emotionally healthy, they tend to have more resilience and perform better in work or school. Emotional wellness is a process, and it’s important to stay aware of your emotions. Practice self-compassion during challenging times and seek help when necessary.

Positive emotions boost immunity, improve cardiovascular health and foster social connections. Practicing mindfulness and meditation can also help manage stress and improve emotional regulation. Using your brain for mental wellness activities like solving puzzles and strategy games can also be helpful. Getting regular physical activity can also contribute to your emotional well-being.

Social

Social wellness involves balancing our own physical, mental, and emotional health while engaging with others. It involves communication, empathy, and active listening. It is important to communicate assertively and to be able to listen to others without judgment.

Regular social interaction helps alleviate feelings of loneliness, which can lead to health problems. It also improves your ability to manage stress and depression. Maintaining a good social wellness includes having friends and family you can turn to for support during challenging times. A therapist can help you nurture your social wellness and develop healthy relationships.

Spiritual

Spiritual wellness involves a deeper connection with others and the natural world. It also promotes a healthy mindset that allows people to overcome negative thinking and emotions like fear, anger and sadness.

Those who are spiritually balanced tend to have more compassion and empathy for others, seek happiness beyond material possessions and live life per their beliefs, morals and core values. They may even have a stronger ability to bounce back from trauma or stress.

Practices such as yoga, walking in nature, watching the sunrise and sunset and camping can help improve spiritual wellness. However, it is highly personal and depends on individual beliefs.

Intellectual

Intellectual wellness involves fostering critical thinking, stimulating curiosity, and developing mental skills. This can include learning new languages, taking classes, engaging in creative pursuits and exploring different cultures.

It means being open to new ideas and beliefs and receptive to changing your views. It also includes being comfortable with different opinions and seeing all sides of an issue.

Intellectual wellness inspires exploration and motivates you to try new things as a way of knowing yourself, others and the environment. It can also be achieved by reading, playing brain-stimulating games like chess and sudoku, and exercising your cognitive abilities through hobbies. Consuming a healthy diet that is rich in vitamins and nutrients also promotes intellectual wellness.

Occupational

Working in a job that provides satisfaction, enrichment and meaning can help you maintain your overall health and mental well-being. To achieve occupational wellness, you must pursue your personal goals while staying focused on the bigger picture.

Workplaces can foster wellness consciousness by providing a variety of programs and services. These may include fitness classes, support groups and volunteer opportunities. They can also provide employees with mental health support, healthy eating options and ergonomic workplaces.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, some people opted for home-based exercise instead of going out to gyms and other public places. The present study confirms a mediating effect of health consciousness on home-based exercise through the mediation of health life goal and perceived behavioral control.
