Wellness is a holistic concept that encompasses all aspects of a healthy lifestyle. It includes mental, physical, social and spiritual well-being. Wellness consciousness is the awareness and practice of promoting wellness.
This study explores the mediating effect of health life goal and perceived behavioral control on home-based exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic. Structural equation modeling results show that health consciousness influences home-based exercise through the mediation of health life goal and perceived behavioral control.
Physical wellness
Physical wellness encompasses an individual’s physical health, including sleep, diet, exercise and sexual well being. It also includes establishing healthy habits around substance use and avoiding harmful behaviors such as smoking. Fostering physical wellness can have a positive impact on your emotional and mental wellbeing.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, people’s health consciousness has been significantly elevated. This study uses structural equation modeling to test and validate hypothesis 1. It finds that health consciousness positively influences home-based exercise through health life goal and perceived behavioral control.
However, the study’s limitations should be noted. First, it is based on online questionnaires. Second, respondents may not be representative of the general population. Future studies should explore other influencing factors of home-based exercise, such as perceived usefulness and self-efficacy. In addition, the mediating role of these factors should be explored in depth. Nonetheless, the results of this study show that improving people’s health consciousness is conducive to doing home-based exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Social wellness
Having friends and a support network is important to your social wellness. It helps you build confidence, find emotional support, and feel like you belong. It also helps you learn to manage conflict, create healthy boundaries, and respect people of all backgrounds and perspectives.
To improve your social wellness, try joining a club or organisation based on your interests. This will allow you to meet new people and establish a regular socialising routine. You can also increase your social well-being by volunteering. It has been proven to reduce depression, and it can also help you develop skills for work.
Wellness consciousness is a holistic approach to living that encompasses all aspects of your life. It can include physical, mental, and spiritual health, and is often focused on self-healing and preventive care. The six dimensions of wellness are interdependent, and each one influences the others. You can learn more about the different dimensions of wellness by exploring the resources in our Members-only Professional Resource Library.
Mental wellness
Mental wellness includes a broad range of dimensions, including self-acceptance, personal growth, meaningful relationships, social support and community involvement. It also encompasses a sense of purpose and fulfillment. These factors are important for coping with life’s stressors and enabling people to enjoy productive lives, fulfill their potential and contribute to society.
Mental health relates to an individual’s ability to cope with the challenges and stresses of life. It is not the same as mental illness, but it may overlap with it in some cases. It includes the ability to maintain healthy emotional states and a sense of contentment in spite of life’s difficulties.
There is a belief that simply not having a mental illness means you’re mentally well, but that’s not necessarily true. In fact, having a mental illness can be a barrier to achieving high levels of mental wellness.
Spiritual wellness
Whether it’s through connecting to a higher power or finding peace through meditation, spiritual wellness allows you to explore your own internal values and beliefs. Spiritual wellness is different for everyone, but it can include activities like religious practices, yoga, mindfulness and free writing to channel feelings into words.
According to McKinsey Health Institute, “Spiritual well being encompasses an individual’s search for meaning and purpose in life; it may include faith-based or non-faith-based activities.” Spirituality can also refer to your connection to nature, community and yourself. It is often associated with hope, self-esteem, moral virtues, pacifism and harmony. Those who have good spiritual wellness typically display compassion, forgiveness and positive outlooks on life. It can also include personal practices that are not religious in nature, such as yoga or prayer. Keeping a journal is another great way to explore your own beliefs and track spiritual insight progress. This can be done alone or paired with meditation to foster a sense of inner reflection and calm.
