Spiritual Energy is energy that flows from the Divine into this world. It connects you to higher realms of consciousness.
Faith, effort and mindfulness are the five spiritual powers which, when well developed, lead to liberation. Concentration is the fourth spiritual faculty which emerges naturally out of the effort to be mindful.
Chakras
Chakras are thought to provide subtle energy that helps your organs and mind work at their best. Western medical research hasn’t examined chakras much, but the concept influenced many New Age alternative health practices.
The seven chakras are thought to align with different aspects of your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. If a chakra isn’t in balance, it can affect your health. You may feel pain in the area of your body associated with that chakra, and you might experience emotional or psychological problems as a result.
The root chakra, for example, influences your sense of stability and grounding. If it’s overactive, you may become withdrawn and feel anxious or depressed. A balanced root chakra lets you feel grounded in your connection to the world and gives you strength to deal with adversity. The sacral chakra governs your ability to exchange energies with others and the ability to let go of situations, people and possessions that no longer serve you.
Emotions
Emotions are short-lived feelings triggered by bodily sensations that help regulate arousal, direct attention, and motivate behavior. They are also thought to play an important role in spiritual growth.
It is not unusual to hear people refer to someone as having high or low energy, but in spiritual circles this usually means their level of emotional enlightenment. People who have more of a high energy are often described as being more loving, patient and generous, while those with less energy are often characterized as being mean or angry.
Spiritual energy is the current of Spirit that moves through your emotional body, bringing in new possibilities. The human soul cries out for this fuller experience of the unseen reality that is its source, and it does so by expressing its emotions. The more we open to spiritual energy, the more our emotions become a tool for transformation. This is why it’s so important to practice meditation.
Mind
The mind is an aspect of human consciousness that enables us to experience life. It is made up of the brain, sensory perceptions, memory, emotions, desires, various types of reasoning and the unconscious. The mind is often viewed as being the source of one’s spiritual energy.
If the mind and body are bogged down with unresolved issues, it can be challenging to connect with the soul’s innate healing powers. Also, the chattering monkey mind can create a filter that distorts or obscures the clarity of our intuition.
When you tap into spiritual energy, your perception of life fashions itself differently. Your mind shifts into a non-judgmental, non-reactive mode. Then, everything becomes a gift and you can allow yourself to be the best version of yourself. It’s the power of the universe at your fingertips. This is what makes spirituality so powerful. It’s like magic! It isn’t always easy, but it can be very rewarding. And, if you practice correctly, it can become your natural state of being.
Body
The body is the conduit through which we experience spiritual energy. You may intuit someone else’s mood, sense danger or be drained by a needy friend all due to this interplay between the body and energy. It’s also the way in which we can be most present to our body and what it needs in each moment.
It’s interesting that while we can understand energy from a rational, scientific perspective (it powers the lights in your home, there’s kinetic and potential energies – thanks to Einstein!) we struggle to grasp this concept of spiritual energy. This is largely because the idea of energy is so personal in nature.
Many shamanic practices around the energy body bring this aspect of spirituality into our daily lives and help us to embrace all that it can offer. For example, if you are able to acknowledge that you are a vortex of energy and that this energy is inextricably linked to your physical body – then you can use this knowledge to address the health issues your energy intuition is highlighting.
