Self Healing – How to Get Started

Self healing involves implementing practices into your daily routine that promote health and wellness. It may involve many different modalities and often involves the guidance of a professional.

Therapy helps you recognize negative thought patterns that hinder your mental health, paving the way for positive growth. It also teaches you healthy coping strategies that improve resilience.

Physical Exercise

It’s well known that regular exercise boosts the immune system, reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer, wards off the common cold, and heals wounds faster. But did you know that it also helps your body to heal itself? Evidence shows that good fitness has global healing effects, improving the health of nearly every single system of the human body.

For example, light, consistent exercise promotes circulation and carries oxygen to tired muscles. And mental relaxation activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which fosters cellular repair and tissue healing. Additionally, a nutritious diet and holistic remedies like vitamins and essential oils reduce inflammation, support immune function, and help to maintain muscular balance. These self-healing strategies complement conventional treatments to optimize muscle recovery and lead a healthy, active life.

Meditation

Meditation is a practice that can help you connect with your body, calm your breath and promote blood flow throughout the body. It is also a great way to lower your blood pressure and boost your immune system.

Healing meditation involves observing your thoughts from a different perspective rather than getting carried away with them. This will give you the opportunity to observe the thoughts and feelings from a neutral, detached place so that you can choose where your attention goes.

Many studies have shown that people who meditate regularly have changes in their brains. This may include denser tissue or certain areas that are larger than expected.

Deep Relaxation

We know that chronic stress can be a significant obstacle to self healing. This is because prolonged stress reduces the effectiveness of your immune system. Relaxation techniques like progressive muscle relaxation (where you systematically tense and then relax each group of muscles) can help you activate your body’s natural relaxation response to lower stress levels.

You can find many different types of relaxation techniques through complementary and integrative health specialists, mental health professionals, or through self-help modalities like smartphone apps or audio downloads. Some of these include autogenic relaxation, which involves repeating a calming word or phrase silently to yourself. You can also find rhythmic breathing exercises like yoga, tai chi and qigong that are helpful for many people. These meditative practices can be a great way to learn more about mindfulness and body awareness.

Gratitude

A gratitude practice shifts your focus from what is lacking to what is abundant. This creates a more balanced, healthy state of well being.

Studies show that people who express their appreciation experience lower stress, better sleep, stronger immune systems, higher self-esteem and more social connections. They also experience less pain, report fewer health problems, have lower blood pressure, and are more resilient to depression.

To develop gratitude as a habit, keep a gratitude journal and write down at least three things every day for which you are thankful. It is important to be specific and to focus on people, rather than just things. Studies suggest that the more detailed the list, the greater the benefits. It is also helpful to include some negative outcomes that you are grateful you escaped, avoided or turned into something positive.

Soul Connection

Soul connections, sometimes called soul ties, are powerful energy connections that can alter our physical and emotional energy. These can be healthy or unhealthy and some, such as those from toxic relationships, should be released for the sake of our well-being.

Unlike soul mates or twin flames, these types of relationships are not always romantic and can also include family members and close friends. They often feel like they have known each other for lifetimes and a deep understanding exists between them.

Whether it’s a relationship, job or project if you are feeling connected to your soul it will make everything easier for you. Your Mood Barometer (your inner guidance system) will let you know by how you feel whether you’re moving towards or away from your soul connection.
