Bed Bugs Begone!

Thanks mom for the bed bug sprays. We used them as soon as they came in the mail and haven’t been bitten since! What a relief! It’s been about 3 weeks now and still no bites. Though pest control did come again last week and sprayed the entire building this time, so hopefully we’ve seen the last of the little critters. Thanks so much!

Bed Bug Spray Recipe
by: Valory

You are very welcome Elyse and glad to help. I can only hope that what the pest control people used is at least somewhat environmentally friendly. You may want to do a detox protocol just to be on the safe side.

Comments: Bed bugs seem to be an increasing problem around the country, apparently even in Boulder. My daughter Elyse, and her roommate recently moved into a new apartment in that city only to find that it was infested with bed bugs. Elyse told me she was getting out of bed with 25 or 30 new bites every morning! And this was after the exterminators had paid their first house call. Egads! I made up a batch of the following recipe and shipped it off to them in the mail.

Bed Bug Spray Recipe

10 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
3 drops peppermint essential oil
3 drops citronella essential oil

Put about 30-35 drops of the blend along with 1 cup of water in a fine mist spray bottle, and shake well before using. Spray around the room, on carpets, furniture, etc., daily. A few drops can also be placed in a diffuser to permeate the rooms with the oils.

I sent along some lavender hydrosol as well. This was to be put in a separate spray bottle with instructions to spray their bodies and bedding right before going to bed. I find that the bed bug blend recipe listed above has a rather strong aroma and could interfere with restful sleep. However the lavender is a bug deterrent as well as being conducive to sleeping.
